“School of chocolate” is a new Netflix reality competition series that significantly changes from typical reality shows. Swiss-French pastry chef named Amaury Guichon was host it and “Super Delicious Productions” was produce the tv series. Amaury Guichon is a well-known professional pastry chef, artist, and chocolatier. As reported in mgacademy, he had completed 2 years of pastry (CAP) at Wolsberg College and achieved as the winner in the Apprentice chocolate showpiece contest. After that, he completed the final part of pastry education (BTM) at Lenotre, Paris, and won the gold medal of “Best Apprentice of France.”

Review of School of Chocolate season 1 

Amanda Miller, Cedrick Simpson, Daniel Joseph Corpuz, Juan Guitierrez, Mellisa Root, Stephanie Norcio, Thiago Silva, and Trycia Clark are the 8 contestants who show their skills under the supervision of the expert Amaury Guichon. 

1st Episode (Breaking moulds and bending chocolate) 

In the 1st Episode, the title was “Breaking moulds and bending chocolate.” The first challenge was to make chocolate edible illusions using hand-crafted moulds within 4 hours and 30 minutes. Tricia and Amanda failed in this challenge and had to attend the one-on-one session with Amaury Guichon. The winners were Daniel and Juan. In the second challenge, two teams without members participated in the one-on-one session. Two winners were the leaders of these two teams. They were able to select their team members. The challenge was to bend chocolate into a complex architectural structure in 14 hours. Juan owned “The best in class” in this Episode. 

2nd Episode (Dessert deception) 

The title of the 2nd Episode was “Dessert deception.” Creating “photo-realistic food items using various natural additives” was the first challenge. Cedrick and Daniel were unable to reach Guichon’s standards. So they attended the one-on-one session with him this time. In the second challenge, two team leaders were Stephanie and Amanda. It was to make a natural chocolate structure. The Episode ended in a nasty moment creating suspense because team Stephanie’s chocolate structure crumbled.

3rd Episode of School of Chocolate (Make it ooze)

In the 3rd Episode, Guichon named team Amanda as the last challenge’s winner. Guichon remained to call the best in class, Daniel or Mellisa. So he applied a trick quickly to vote competitors among themselves. Mellisa voted more than Daniel and became the “Best in class.” The title of this Episode is “Make it ooze.” Within 4 and 1/2 hours, they should create their storytelling dessert with the oozing element. The two leaders were Tricia and Juan. At this time, Mellisa and Thiago scored the lowest. So they had to attend the next one-on-one session.

4th Episode (Chocolate hanging by a thread)

In the 4th Episode, there were teams with two members. The title was “Chocolate hanging by a thread.” It was to make a chocolate showpiece hangs from the ceiling within 16 hours. The team of Juan and Daniel achieved this time. Juan became the “best in class,” and this was the second time he gained it.

5th episode (Bittersweet surprises)

Bittersweet surprises” was the title of the 5th Episode. Contestants were divided into two groups. Members of one group were given to design flower petals using tempered chocolate, and the others were assigned to create a hinge mechanism using chocolate. Both groups were given 4 hours and 30 minutes. Cedrick won by designing chocolate flower petals, and Mellisa won by making a hinge mechanism. The winners could decide to sort the competitors who will not compete in the next task. Juan and Stephanie were selected for the next chocolate showpiece challenge.

6th Episode of School of Chocolate (Flying chocolate)

In the 6th Episode, the title was “flying chocolate,” Here, the challenge was to make a showpiece that matched a children’s birthday party showing the theme of flight in 9 hours. Each team was with two members. The team of Tricia and Mellisa won, and Tricia was named the “best in class”.

7th episode (Give me some sugar)

Give me some sugar” was the title of the 7th Episode. The challenge was to create anything they liked, including a blown sugar element, in 4 and 1/2 hours. Thiago and Juan were named “best in class”. Guichon named Juan and Mellisa as the two top achievers in the class. Next, we will see which is the best among these two in the next task. They had to lead the two teams.

8th Episode (The best in class is…)

In the 8th Episode, the title is “The best in class is….” The task was to craft 4 feet tall chocolate showpiece within 16 hours. Juan was named “best in class”. 

Tricia Clark achieved the highest in the School of the chocolate reality show. So she is named the winner of the show. 

However, as no one was eliminated in each episode of the School of chocolate, it won the hearts of many people. It had a good ending by creating a hopeful future for all competitors. Amaury Guichon also supported them by encouraging them, unlike most of the judges in other reality shows. School of chocolate is a successful reality show.
